Joel Lopez
U8-U12 Boys Director
Director of Destination Soccer (4-7 year olds)
BIO
My passion for coaching stems from the love for the game that I shared with my family growing up. During my time as a coach I have worked with a wide range of players from 4 yr olds, to young women and men in adult leagues. It has been a privilege to be part of each of their soccer journeys. Each stage of soccer development presents challenges for players that makes every experience unique. As a coach and mentor I work to find ways to meet the needs of each player through developmentally appropriate sessions, collaboration, and ongoing professional development.
In addition to being a husband, dad and an NUU coach I currently teach at Edith Bowen Laboratory school at Utah State University. I have a MEd in Instructional Leadership as well as a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from USU. I have taught for 14 years, and have a passion for creating stimulating learning experiences that help students overcome challenges.
As a coach and educator, I focus on providing an appropriate environment with opportunities to practice and receive feedback. Learning is a lifelong process. Mia Hamm’s put it best, “Failure happens all the time. It happens every day in practice. What makes you better is how you react to it.”
